DC currently offers 16 home visiting programs designed to help families succeed.

​Early Head Start Home-Based

Early Head Start Home Based (EHS-HB) is an evidence-based model that supports pregnant women and families with infants or toddlers under the age of three through weekly home visits and regular group activities to help prepare children for school, to help pregnant women have healthy pregnancies and births, and to give families the tools and knowledge they need to support their children’s development.

Healthy Families America

Healthy Families America (HFA) is an evidence-based model that serves pregnant women and families with infants under 3 months old until the child reaches 3-5 years old through weekly home visits (home visiting frequency varies by family need). HFA is great fit for families who are overwhelmed, are experiencing significant challenges in their lives, or who have a history of challenging experiences. HFA programs work to develop strong and healthy parent-child attachments that make it easier for parents and children to be healthy, safe, and ready to succeed .

Home Instruction for the Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)

Home Instruction for the Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is an evidence-based model that partners with the parents of children three-, four-, and five-year-olds in weekly home visits to help them with the skills, resources, and knowledge they need to prepare their children succeed in school.

Parents as Teachers

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is an evidence-based model ​that supports expectant parents and the parents of children under the age of five to through monthly or twice-monthly home visits and parent group meetings. PAT helps parents access the knowledge and resources they need to prepare their children for school.

Father-Child Attachment Program-
​Mary's Center
​

The Father-Child Attachment (FCA) is a hybrid model of Healthy Families America designed specifically to work with District resident fathers. FCA supports expectant fathers and men with children ages 0 to 5 develop the attitude, knowledge, and skills to become involved in and connected to their children’s lives.

​Parenting Support Program

The Parenting Support Program (PSP) is a promising practice model and a home visiting program designed to support the need of parents with intellectual disabilities who are pregnant or parenting young children through age 5.

Parent Education and Home Visitors Program-
​Community Family Life Services

CLFS' Parent Education and Home Visitors Program is designed to support the stability of families in Wards 5 - 8 . This program pairs parent group education sessions with home visits to build strong relationships with parents, to support them in establishing healthy and nurturing parenting skills while providing space for peer support among parents.
