About the Home Visiting Council
The DC Home Visiting Council is a body of home visiting providers, local government agency representatives, early childhood advocates, managed care organizations and other partners that works to strengthen the understanding, implementation, and sustainability of home visiting as a strategy to support positive child and family outcomes in the District of Columbia.
The DC Home Visiting Council was established in 2000 to coordinate the home visiting sector. Since 2016, DC Action has chaired the HV Council. The HV Council's 2024-2026 Strategic Plan states the Council's mission, vision, and the goals members work towards. Members of the HV Council join subcommittees to carry out their work. HV Council Publications The Annual Report Since 2018, the Home Visiting Council has published an annual report that documents the home visiting landscape, including data collected from home visiting programs and analysis of policy and funding changes. The report also documents the work of the HV Council and its committees to address the collective needs of home visiting programs, the providers who staff them, and the families who benefit from them |
The Home Visitor Experiences Report
This Home Visitor Experiences Report documents the experience of the home visiting workforce in the District of Columbia in 2021. The report shares District home visitors’ perspectives on their roles, what drew them to the field, and the stressors that motivate many to transition out of it. The report informs the District’s Home Visiting Council’s work to support home visitors and informs policymakers about the role and status of home visitors, as well as opportunities to strengthen this field. |
